Captain Brian Sutton

Captain Brian Sutton Captain Brian Sutton grew up on the Bay, from the days as a kid fishing with his father on their 1985 19' Sea Sprite, until his first day as a "professional" with Captain Richie Roberts aboard Captain Marty Simounet's "Rosie B". That was in June 1987, when Brian was 12. During the summer of 1987, Brian filled in and mated on charters whenever he could. In 1988, Brian landed a job on the "Optimist II", the headboat at the Rod & Reel Dock at the time. With Captain Brian Trego at the helm, the "Optimist II" chummed up cooler after cooler full of five to ten pound bluefish. This was the heyday of blue fishing. In 1989 Captain Richie Roberts purchased his first boat called the "Short Circuit", and gave Brian a job as the full time first mate. In 1992, Captain Richie sold the "Short Circuit", and purchased a 1987 40' Cecil Robbins-built fiberglass boat which he called "Marcy Lynn."

From 1992 until the fall of 1999 Brian worked for Captain Richie Roberts. Brian got his captain's license in May of 1997. At the same time Brian worked on many other boats, such as Captain Jamey Danford's "Kelly D", Captain Claude Sacker's "Cindy S", Captain Tommy Ireland's "Patience", Captain Marty Simounet's "Kyran Lynn", Captain Ed Green Jr.'s "Bay Raider", Captain Ed Green Sr.'s "Why Not", Captain David Byrd's "Jen-Tre" & "Jen-Tre II", Captain Mike Stewart's "Fish Tricks", Captain Ed O'Brien's "Semper Fidelis" and Captain Drew Payne's "Worm". Little did they know that Captain Brian was studying their every move closely!

In 1999, a new opportunity presented itself to Captain Brian, a chance to be the Captain of a brand new boat. A landscape contractor by the name of John Poulos had chartered the "Marcy Lynn" numerous times.

John, Captain Richie and Captain Brian had many light conversations about John starting a charter boat business. John decided to take the plunge placing Captain Brian at the helm of a brand new 1999 46' Ronnie Carman boat called "My Fine Lady". The boat was put into service in August of 1999 and Captain Brian immediately took control, and using what he had learned from the above captains he put the fear in fish and smiles on the faces of his anglers. Aboard the "My Fine Lady" Captain Brian really found his calling, having success day after day.

Having such success on the "My Fine Lady" really left only one place for Captain Brian to go -- into his own boat. In April of 2002, Captain Brian purchased a 2002 42' boat built by Chesapeake Boats Inc., which he called "Debra Christine".
